PNS

At a time when the Manohar Lal Khattar led Haryana Government is reiterating its commitment to fight corruption, 26 of its departments have not submitted their comments to the State Vigilance Department in around 200 graft complaints, despite repeated reminders.

Ahead of March 14 meeting of Chief Vigilance officers (CVOs) of all departments here, the State Vigilance Department has again written to the government departments seeking replies from them about the status of graft complaints.

Several such letters have been written in the past two years as well but the departments have failed to submit comments pertaining to various corruption complaints to Haryana Vigilance Department.

According to the Vigilance Department’s data, Town and Country Planning and HSVP, Development and Panchayat, Urban Local Bodies, Cooperation, Transport, Police, Public Health Engineering are among the departments with maximum number of pending complaints.

According to a letter written by Additional Chief Secretary, Vigilance to all departments, comments on 26 complaints are pending with Town and Country Planning, Urban Estate and HSVP followed by 34 with Development & Panchayat, 32 with Urban Local Bodies, 15 with Cooperation,  9 each with Transport, Health, Public Health Engineering, 7 with Agriculture among other complaints.

Taking serious note of the issue, Haryana Vigilance Department has now decided to convene a meeting of chief vigilance officers, to review the pending cases on March 14.

A communiqué sent to all administrative secretaries and heads of departments by the Haryana Vigilance Department on Tuesday in this regard, stated, “Despite of repeated reminders, no replies have been received on pending complaints. Chief vigilance officers (CVOs) of departments will attend the meeting called to discuss the issues referred by Vigilance Department for comments to respective departments.”

Notably, the appointed CVOs in departments serve as a vital link between the concerned departments and the Vigilance Department to keep a check on corruption.
