Haryana Govt changes power supply timings for rural areas

PNS

The Haryana Government has changed the power supply schedule for rural areas in the State. This is the third time after Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar took charge of Haryana in October that the schedule has been amended.

As per the new schedule, the villages will get electricity supply for two hours during the day while the total number of hours of supply will be 11 as compared to 14 hours earlier. The villagers will now get electricity from 5 pm to 11 pm, from 4 am to 7 am and 1 pm to 3 pm daily.

Notably, the State Government had on January 2 cut power supply hours for rural areas from 14 hours to 11 hours allotting the three hours to industrial sector. The Haryana Government had also on December 10 announced changes in the electricity supply schedule for the rural and urban areas while keeping the number of hours of supply unchanged at 14 hours — the same under the previous Government.

The Chief Minister had earlier this month stated that the State Government cannot ensure 24-hour electricity supply in the present situation as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders prior to the Haryana Assembly polls in October last year.
