PNS

The Haryana Government has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any credible information about those involved in the blast in a Haryana roadways bus in Kurukshetra district on Thursday, which police said was carried out using an IED.

The teams of IB and NIA on Friday visited the site of the "low intensity" blast which occurred near Pipli when the bus was on its way to Chandigarh from Sonipat. Around eight people

were injured in the explosion in which IED was suspectedly used.

The State Police has not ruled out the explosion incident as a terror attack as this was the third incident of low intensity blast in Haryana this year.

A day before, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under Haryana Additional Director General of Police (Crime) SS Kapoor to investigate the three cases of explosion that have occurred in Kurukshetra on May 26 and in Panipat on January 16 and May 13.

On May 13, a blast had taken place in a bogie of a Delhi-Panipat passenger train causing minor injuries to a 15-year-old boy. The blast took place when the train was parked in the yard in Panipat.  The earlier blast had happened in January in the Panipat-Ambala (64543) passenger train stationed on the platform.

Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police (SP) Simardeep Singh while talking to the mediapersons on Friday said, “A mixture of chemicals was used in the IED (improvised explosive device) which was detonated with a time device in the roadways bus.”

Simardeep Singh said the teams of IB and NIA have examined the Haryana Roadways bus and the site at Pipli where the blast took place a day before. The team members analysed the material of low intensity bomb recovered from the bus, he said.

Forensic experts are analysing details to establish the pattern of the Pipli blast with two recent similar incidents at Panipat railway station, he said.

Singh added that the central agencies are working in close coordination with Haryana police's SIT to investigate the explosion incidents.

An FIR was registered under section 307 of Indian Penal Code, sections 3 and 5 of Explosives Substances Act, section 4 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and section 16 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at Police Station Sadar Thana, Kurukshetra in the roadways bus blast incident.
