Haryana gets Centre's nod to conduct Class V, VIII exams through State Board

PNS

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said that the Centre Government has given its consent to conduct the examinations for classes V and VIII through the Haryana Board of School Education.

The State Government has also restarted the monthly test system in all Government schools of the State, said the Chief Minister while speaking at the Annual Function 2015-16 of SD Adarsh Public School at Karnal.

The Chief Minister said that conducting these examinations through the Board would not only improve the standard of education, but also instill a sense of responsibility in the students.

He said that the State Government has prepared a scheme under which the private schools have been asked to adopt at least five Government schools so as to ensure quality education.

He said that the SD Adarsh Public School of Karnal has also assured him to adopt five government schools.

Though the State Government is providing adequate budget and infrastructural facilities to the schools in Haryana, the Government schools are still unable to match the education standard of private schools, said he.

The Chief Minister added that he had also sought suggestions from educationists and other scholars during various conferences for improving the standard of education in the state and had directed that the appropriate suggestions be implemented.

While emphasising the need for developing a value-based society, Manohar lal said that merely attending school and getting certificates does not ensure that quality education is imparted to students.

He said that the aim should not be only to provide infrastructural facilities, but also to give a new dimension to education so that students could contribute in the process of nation building. He added that in this direction, the State Government has introduced a teachers training programme so as to improve their teaching skills.

Manohar lal said that apart from education, the State Government is also laying emphasis on the physical development of the students. In order to promote traditional sports, Vyayamshalas are being opened in villages on two acres, block-level stadium on 5-6 acres and district-level stadium on 15-20 acres. Apart from this, the advertisement for the recruitment of 1,000 coaches has already been issued so that those trained in sports could get an opportunity to hone the skills of budding sports talents in the state.

The State Government has also constituted an Adventure Sports Academy and the first Training Centre of this Academy would be opened in village Raipur Rani in district Panchkula, said he.

The Chief Minister added that with a view to acquainting the youth with the rich cultural heritage of the state, the Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department has prepared a comprehensive plan to organise cultural programmes at block and district levels throughout the year.
