PNS
Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday sent a written communication to Union Urban Development Minister, Venkaiah Naidu to set up a Tri-City Development Board for development of Panchkula-Mohali-Chandigarh on the pattern of National Capital Region (NCR).Vij said that earlier, he had written a similar letter to Governor of Haryana
and Punjab and UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki. The Governor had appreciated him for this initiative and suggested to take up this matter to the appropriate forum. The Minister said, therefore, a letter has been addressed to the Union Minister. He said that while welcoming this suggestion, a Minister of Punjab has also agreed to this proposal.
Vij said that he had discussed this matter with the Chief Ministers of both States so that this idea could be implemented. The Minister said that on the pattern of NCR, Tri-City would also get new opportunities of development. This would not only help in solving problems like transportation, operation of Metro service, dealing with natural calamities like floods and droughts, and other inter-State problems, but it would also lead to overall development of Panchkula, Mohali and Chandigarh. With this, the residents living in Tri-City would get equal and better opportunities of employment and other services, Vij added.
