PNS

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal has requested Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to issue necessary directions either to make available funds to Haryana Public Works Department for one time improvement of internal national highways being bypassed on account of four laning of NH-65 and NH-10 in the State or take up the improvements as per the estimates forwarded by the Department to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

In a demi official letter addressed to Union Minister of Road Transport Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari, the Chief Minister has complimented him for the policy decision of the bypasses existing in the NH section being improved with one time improvement funds provided by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways/NHAI.

He said that 11 estimates amounting to Rs 65.35 crore have been prepared and forwarded to NHAI from the office of Engineer-in-Chief, Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Department. These estimates have been prepared in consultation with NHAI field officials, he added.

He said that the condition of the sections covered in the 11 estimates is really bad and the works are required to be taken up immediately.

Giving details, the Chief Minister said that the estimates of projects on NH-65 included improvement of  46.700 km to 54.400 km in Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts, improvement of 72.800 km to 76.050 km and 76.050 km to 88.135 km at Kaithal town, improvement of 31.000 km to 35.450 km in Ambala district, improvement of 5 km to 11.500 km in Ambala district, improvement of 13.069 km to 14.550 km in Ambala, improvement of 21.090 km to 23.525 km in Ambala and revised estimate for one time improvement for bypasses of internal portion of NH Hisar, Barwala and Siwani.

Manohar lal has also requested Nitin Gadkari for the construction of an interchange facility at Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) for Palwal-Aligarh road.

In a separate demi official letter addressed to the Union Minister, the Chief Minister also thanked him for having taken keen interest to implement various four laning and six laning projects in the State.

The Chief Minister said that Palwal-Aligarh road is an important interstate road connecting Haryana with Uttar Pradesh. It crosses Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) at km 126.137 where only a 30 metres span underpass has been provided and that too without an interchange facility.

He said that nearest interchanges to the crossing of Palwal-Aligarh road with EPE are provided at 134.948 km which is more than eight kilometres away and at 108.570 km kmcrossing of Ballabhagarh-Atali-Chaiansa road which is more than 17 kilometres away from Palwal-Aligarh road. Given the importance of this interstate road, it would be appropriate to provide an interchange facility with the EPE for Palwal-Aligarh road, he added.

He also requested Gadkari to issue necessary directions to NHAI in this regard for better dispersal of traffic.
