The conductors and drivers of around 1,000 buses of Haryana Roadways have decided not to enter national capital Delhi on June 15. They have alleged that Delhi Police personnel create obstacles for them while plying in Delhi.
Sarbat Singh Punia, president of Haryana Roadways Employees Union said more than 1,000 buses of Haryana Roadways ply from Chandigarh and other parts of Haryana to Delhi.
He said Delhi police personnel create lots of problems to their drivers and conductors when they enter the capital.
“We do not allow the Delhi police personnel to travel free of cost. They issue challans which are paid by drivers and conductors from their own pockets. This is not acceptable to us,” Punia said. “Now, we have decided not to enter the capital for one day to convey the genuine demand of drivers and conductors to the State government,” he added.
Arun Kumar, Director General of Haryana Transport Department, has appealed to the Haryana Roadways employees not to cause inconvenience to the passengers by not taking their buses to Delhi.
He added that he had already taken up the matter with the Delhi Police authorities who have assured him that they would not challan the buses.
He said that the Delhi Police authorities had also assured him that the challans would be issued only after video recording of buses. There would be a Nodal Officer on behalf of Delhi Police and in case of any inappropriate challan, grievance could be taken up with him, he added.
