Haryana bans sale, purchase of cows

PNS

In a bid to check smuggling of cows to the neighbouring States, Haryana Government on Tuesday completely banned sale and purchase of cows in the animal fairs organised in the State.

A notification has been issued by Haryana Gau Sewa Aayog which in a written communication has asked all the Deputy Commissioners in the State to ensure strict compliance of these orders. Besides the sale of cows, complete ban has also been imposed even on their entry in such fairs. "Haryana Gau Sewa Ayog has taken a strict note of the incidents of smuggling of cows in neighbouring States and their sale in the slaughter houses.

The Ayog had found that various agents remain active in these fairs who by getting  the cows in fairs easily sold them in neighbouring States on higher rates. Keeping in view all these aspects, these orders have been issued," an official statement said. Member of Haryana State level Vadh Shala Committee and President, Haryana Chapter of the People for Animals Naresh Kadian has welcomed this decision for the protection of cows in the State.
