With the clamour for his arrest and CBI probe rising, Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia on Tuesday said that he was open to any impartial probe.
“I am even ready to be hanged if I have done any wrong… But, I will not deter from my duties by the blackmailing tactics of Punjab Congress,” said Majithia. Explaining the background behind the Congress’ allegations, Majithia said that he was paying a price for exposing land scams committed by the senior Congress leaders including Pradesh Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa.
“My conscience is clear… I have done no wrong. My only fault is that I have consistently taken the Punjab Congress head on. It is because of this that I am constantly targeted by the State Congress,” said Majithia. Training guns at State Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, SAD MPs Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Balwinder Singh Bhunder said that the then Chief Minister and State Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh had alleged Bajwa of corruption and having links with drug mafia, terrorists and criminals in a letter to Sonia Gandhi. “Capt Amarinder was handling Home Department then, and now Bajwa is trying to exploit the same criminal links to make wild allegations against Majithia,” the leaders added.
Asking the State Government to thoroughly probe the track that led to ‘orchestrated outcry of Bhola and Bajwa’, they said, “Everybody can see that Bhola is trying to shield himself by dragging big names into the case so as to confuse both public and investigating agencies. Even a child can understand that no Government would go after a criminal if he enjoyed its shelter.”
