Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj Patil on Monday held a meeting of UT Administration’s officials to review the preparations of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit on September 14.
PM will visit the city on September 10 to hand over the keys of 8,100 small flats constructed at Dhanas under the slum rehabilitation scheme of JNNURM.
A senior UT official said that a helipad would be constructed in IRB Complex, Sarangpur for the landing of PM’s helicopter. Special arrangements have been made to ensure that the traffic is not halted in the city during PM’s visit.” The slum rehabilitation project has been in the pipeline for over five years, and is complete now thus paving way to relocate one of the largest slums in the city.
