Govt reply fails to satisfy Opp

The issue of Jalandhar’s woman teacher, who suffered a miscarriage after the police took her in preventive custody ahead PM’s visit, echoed in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday. But, the State Government failed to come up with a convincing reply. The teacher Rajni, lost her child after the police took her in preventive custody ahead of Modi’s Punjab-visit on Sunday. She was part of the education providers who had announced to show black flags to Modi.

To stop them from protest, the police started taking these teachers into custody , including Rajni. Despite her repeated pleas that she was expecting and advised bed-rest, the police “forcibly” take her along. She alleged that she was detained for an hour and also threatened that resulted in her miscarriage. Raising the issue during the zero hour, Congress legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar lashed out at the State Government and demanded action against the erring police officials.

“This shows how cruel and insensitive we can be. This amounts to 10-year imprisonment. Would you take any action against the guiltyIJ Assure the house that not only such instances be dealt with severely, but such incidents would not repeat in future,” Jakhar asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal. Sukhbir, who also heads  the Home department, maintained complete silence. Not even any member from the treasury benches attempted to respond. CM Parkash Singh Badal was not present in the House on Wednesday.
