Former Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
The son of former Minister Dilbagh Singh, Channi resigned from the Congress in June 2016.
Channi was elected to the Parliament from Hoshiarpur in the general elections of 1999. He was elected an independent MlA from Nawanshahr Assembly segment in 1997.
“Everybody is welcome to help AAP rescue Punjab from Akalis and Congress,” said AAP leader Himmat Singh Shergill — who accompanied Channi, when asked whether AAP was
willing to accept support from Navjot Singh Sidhu’s political front.
