Aiming to accomplish its Mission 272+ in the lok Sabha elections 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has embarked on an ambitious campaign — Nayi Soch, Nayi Umeed, Nayi Rajneeti.
The campaign initiated with the sole aim to ensure BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s victory in the upcoming polls, would see city’s Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members making an all out effort to reach out to the general public.
Started on November 23, the campaign by city’s BJYM is aimed at covering large crowds at major and famous spots of Chandigarh. From bus stands to railway stations, college campuses to coaching institutes, shopping malls to Sector 17, prime tourist spot Sukhna lake to city’s annual festivals, the BJP youth brigade has planned to cover all major spots across the city to campaign for party’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Targeting to connect with large number of people, the BJYM members are focusing on campaigning at ISBT Sector 43 and ISBT Sector 17 where travellers from across the country reach Chandigarh every day. A special pamphlet has been designed for the purpose and is distributed among the people. Giving an account of burning issues like corruption, unemployment, naxalism, terrorism among others, the pamphlet makes an appeal to the citizens to oust the corrupt Congress and give verdict in favour of BJP led by Modi in 2014 polls.
“With an aim to accomplish its Mission 272+ in the upcoming polls, the youth wing of city BJYM has planned to visit major places of the city where people gather in large numbers every day. This will give an opportunity to BJP youth workers to connect with hundreds of people at a time at one place,” said Amit Rana, Chandigarh BJYM president, while talking to The Pioneer.
He said, “Working in this direction, our workers visit bus stands, colleges, city centre among other places to campaign for party’s prime ministerial candidate. To apprise people about
Modi’s ideology, the BJYM workers make sure to visit each bus that enters ISBT from other States and interacts with the travellers.” “This campaign, which aims at apprising people about Modi’s ideology and his vision about India, would continue till lok Sabha elections 2014, as and when it took place during next year,” he added.
Amit further said, “The youth wing has also planned to reach out to the people through SMS campaigns, its website and other social networking outlets, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for campaigning for Modi.” Ahead of 2014 polls, NaMo’s magic seems to be working for the party in the city. Recently, the city BJP managed to enrol a large number of youth to its fold during the youth membership drive.
Though the party had fixed the target to enrol 5,000 youth into the party fold, the BJYM wing of Chandigarh managed to enrol around 8,000 youth. Aimed at enrolling youth in the age group of 18-35 years across the city, the drive was initiated in the last week of July and culminated in October.
The party had also constituted a committee to woo the first time voters in Chandigarh and to assist them understand the electoral process. The committee comprised of BJYM leaders has been entrusted with the task to contact the first time voters of the city and held meetings with them to garner their support and spread party’s ideology.
