The first Velodrome of Haryana would be constructed soon at Kurukshetra University to facilitate the cycling players in getting excellent training opportunities.
Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Friday said a letter has been written to Additional Chief Secretary, Sports in this regard and directions have been issued to take appropriate steps.
Vij said that with the construction of Velodrome in Kurukshetra, the cycling players would be encouraged and the State would be able to get good cycling players. He said that Haryana players had bagged second position in cycling during the National Games held in Kerala. But, there was no facility in the state to encourage this sport.
The State Government is getting the mapping of players, under which stadia would be constructed in specific sports in those areas where there are players of these sports. In view of it, the construction work of a new shooting range costing Rs7 crore at Sports School in Rai has been initiated, added the Minister.
