Gurnam Singh Chaduni, Haryana unit chief of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) along with farmers staged a dharna outside the office of Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation limited in Panchkula demanding early release of compensation for land acquisition.

Chaduni while talking to the mediapersons alleged that about 259 acre land was acquired by HSIIDC in 2007 and even after land acquisition, the government failed to release adequate compensation to the people of villages namely Udamgarh, Manakpur, Garhi Banjara in Yamunanagar district of Haryana.

After the injustice done to them, the farmers had moved Court and the Court had in 2015 directed the Government to pay Rs 30,00,000 per acre as compensation for the land acquired. The total amount stands at Rs 180 crore, he said adding that almost 20 months have passed but the Government is delaying in releasing the payment.

Meanwhile, following the protests outside their office, HSIIDC senior officials later assured the farmers that the compensation would be released by January 20 next year.
