Eye Q Super Speciality Eye Hospitals, announced the launch of two super-speciality centres of excellence for treating ‘Glaucoma’ and ‘Retina’ here on Thursday.
The Institute will bring the latest technology and best of medical skills under one roof to benefit scores of Indians who need super specialist eye care. Eye-Q Institute of Glaucoma will be the first of its kind in India, focusing on the care and treatment of patients with glaucoma, from the common types to the forms of glaucoma which require treatment not easily available in India.
The institute will be led by Dr Devindra Sood, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, who has been practicing glaucoma exclusively for last 16 years. Dr Devindra Sood, Director, Glaucoma Services, Eye Q said “We follow world class management practices in glaucoma, customised to us Indians, in a cost effective manner. From the initial examination to the treatment and management of complex situations, the entire range of glaucoma care is covered.”
“With greater awareness, the number of people with glaucoma in India is only going to increase and by 2020, India will have the second largest number of people in the world, afflicted by glaucoma. Till now, eye hospitals have been prioritising cataract services and there has been a felt need for a hospital catering to the needs of people with glaucoma. Eye Q Institute of Glaucoma will help provide increased awareness about glaucoma, prompt diagnosis and effective treatment under one roof,” added Sood.
