PNS

Days after the Punjab Government has given extension to the State Power Corporation chief KD Chaudhuri, the State engineers’ association has decided to observe February 10, Monday, as ‘black day.’

“PSEB Engineers’ Association has decided to observe black day on Monday in protest against one-year extension granted to the chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of the Punjab State Power Corporation limited (PSPCl), commonly known as Powercom,” stated the Association president

Baldev Singh.February 10 has been selected for the day of protest as this would be the first day of extended tenure of CMD.To lodge their protest against the Government’s move, the Association would further intensify its agitation by resorting to work-to-rule and even to the extent of calling |for strike.

The Association has decided to issue white paper on the whole episode of violation of tripartite agreement and motives behind Powercom CMD’s term extension on February 16.

The Association will also hold candle light march at Patiala on February 19 to be followed by candle marches at Bathinda, Jalandhar, Amritsar, and ludhiana with a gap of seven days.

The Association has conveyed strong resentment to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal against unilateral decision to grant extension to Chaudhary alleging that the State Government had unilaterally amended the tripartite agreement signed with the Association.

“The Government has not consulted the Association on the decision of extension to Chaudhary,” he added.

PSEB Engineers’ Association, at its emergency meeting on Sunday, strongly condemned the violation of the Tripartite agreement by Government by enhancing the upper age limit of CMD from 62 to 65 years just to oblige him “by changing the qualification criteria of CMD, Directors unilaterally”.
