The UT Excise and Taxation Department on Tuesday conducted raids on all Gopal Sweets restaurants in Chandigarh for alleged tax evasion.The Department conducted raids on Gopal Sweets restaurants in Sectors 8, 15 and 35. A senior official of the Department said that the raids were conducted as there were doubts that Gopal Sweets was not submitting accurate details concerning bills.
“During the raid, cash registers and others documents at Gopal Sweets in Sectors 8, 15 and 35 were been seized. We would check all the records of three restaurants now,” informed the official.
