A case of electricity theft has been registered against an MlA in Haryana on the complaint of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam at police station Rani in Sirsa district. Haryana police registered a case against Krishan Kamboj, MlA from Rania Assembly Constituency and others for violation of provisions of the Electricity Act — 2003 by connecting cables of consumers to the distribution system of the DHBVN by bypassing their energy meters.
In its complaint, the sub divisional officers of the DHBVN said that the MlA and others have destroyed the incoming cables of the DHBVN connecting the meters of consumers on the poles and connected the service cables of consumers to the system of the Nigam by bypassing the meters at village Mattuwala. The MlA has tampered the system of the Nigam which is violation of the provisions of the Electricity Act. The DHBVN has made cases of theft of electricity against five consumers of the village. Penalty against the consumers is being calculated. Complaints against the consumers will also be lodged as per provisions of the Electricity Act.
