The breakaway faction of Indian National Lok Dal led by Ajay Chautala, elder son of former Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala has geared up for the launch of their new party “Jannayak Janta Party” on December 9 at Jind.

The word Jan Nayak has been taken from Ajay’s grandfather Chaudhary Devi Lal who was also addressed as Jannayak Devi Lal.

Ajay, father of Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala and INSO chief Digvijay Chautala already heads an NGO named Jannayak Sewa Dal. It is learnt that the name has been carefully selected in an attempt to carry forward the vision of INLD’s founder Chaudhary Devi Lal.

Chaudhary Devi Lal who was the Deputy Prime Minister twice and also two times the Chief Minister of Haryana had founded the INLD in October 1996

In the absence of their father Ajay, who is in prison serving a jail term, Dushyant and Digvijay have geared up to stage a show of strength at Jind rally on December 9, when the name of their party will be formally announced. The duo alongwith their mother MLA Naina Chautala have been holding meetings with their supporters in various constituencies to maximise the mobilisation of people to attend the Jind rally.

Notably, the feud in the Chautala clan—the first family of the INLD—had spilled into the open after INLD patriarch OP Chautala expelled three family members from the party—first his grandsons Hisar MP Dushyant and Digvijay, and then Ajay—for alleged “anti-party activities”.

Following his expulsion, Ajay had announced to form a separate political outfit, which he said will contest both Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Haryana next year.

Former Chief Minister OP Chautala along with  his elder son Ajay are currently serving 10-year jail sentence after being convicted, in teacher recruitment scam in Haryana.

Abhay Chautala, Leader of opposition and MLA from Ellenabad is steering the INLD since 2013.
