Slamming the Opposition for defaming Punjab, Chief Minister Parkah Singh Badal on Tuesday said that that the drug problem in Punjab was much less than that in many other States the country.
He said that some negative elements in the State were hell bent to label the hard working Punjabis as drug addicts and present a wrong picture of the State before the country.
“Punjab Government has already started looking into the drug menace that has engulfed the State and is opening drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres to make the State drug-free,” said Badal while interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of his Sangat Darshan program in Rajasansi assembly segment.
Badal, responding to a query on the border infiltration, said that he has urged the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to enhance vigil on the border areas in Punjab. “Recent terror attacks in Pathankot and Dinanagar has proved that Punjab is on radar of anti-national forces. Though on its part, the State Government is establishing its second line of defence along with the border but the Central Government must issue more funds to modernize the police force in the State,” he said.
Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Badal said that it has no future in the State of Punjab and it was just a ‘water bubble’ that would bust soon.
He said that AAP Government has failed the people of Delhi as Arvind Kejriwal has been unsuccessful on all fronts. “AAP had made tall promises to people but result in Delhi proves that they have not fulfilled even a single aspiration of people,” he said.
Commenting on the sacrilege incident in Malerkotla, the Chief Minister said that some forces envy to the State were repeatedly making attempts to disturb the hard earned communal harmony, peace and brotherhood in the State.
“However, the State Government is committed to crush the ugly head of such forces. The nabbing of culprits by the district Police in this sacrilege incident proves that State Government is committed for this cause,” he said.
Slamming the Congress party for its anti-Punjab stance, Badal said that the Congress was inimical to the State from day one as it denied Punjab of its legitimate territorial rights in terms of its capital, share in river water besides attacking on Sri Durbar Sahib thereby hurting the religious sentiments of the Punjabis in general and Sikh community in particular.
likewise, he said that the Sikhs could never forgive the Congress for the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 in which thousands of innocent Sikhs were brutally killed.
