PNS

A day after receiving a notice from Haryana State Women Commission for his alleged indecent remark against Haryanvi dancer-singer Sapna Chaudhary, Jannayak Janta Party leader Digvijay Chautala on Wednesday said that he stands by his statement and will submit his reply after consulting with his legal team.

“I have not made any insulting comments about a woman. I respect Sapna Chaudhary but I also stand by my statement,” Digvijay said while talking to the mediapersons on Wednesday.

Commenting on the Haryanavi dancer-singer Chaudhary joining the BJP, Digvijay Chautala, while talking a dig at the BJP had earlier said, “Ab thumke lagane wali BJP ke liye votes layegi (Now, a dancer will help the BJP win votes).”

He had also labelled Choudhury's art as “vulgar”, adding “These things are not in our culture."

Following this, Haryana State Women Commission had issued a notice to Digvijay seeking a reply within three days, failing which ex parte action would be taken against him.

On the notice, Digvijay on Wednesday said, “The kind of environment we are living in today… I might get arrested or put in jail for all this. But I do not think I have said anything wrong.”

I will submit my reply in next two days, he added.

Digvijay Chautala is the grandson of former Chief Minister OP Chautala and younger brother of former MP Dushyant Chautala.

Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala have condemned the remark made by Digvijay as ‘inappropriate’ and stated that every artist has a right to express his political affiliations without being unwarrantedly targeted with repugnant statement.
