Senior BJP leader and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday ridiculed Congress’ ‘Zameen Wapsi’ rally being held in New Delhi. Dhumal said that the whole country knows who grabbed the land of the poor and the destitute farmers in Rajasthan and Haryana at a throwaway price and became rich overnight. “It was an irony”, he said, “that those who looted this country for seven decades were pretending to be the well-wishers of the farmers”.
The BJP leader said, “You cannot befool the people all the time. Congress won many elections since Independence by beguiling and cheating the poor with a false slogan, “Congress lao, Garibi Hatao”. But poverty went from bad to worse because those in power indulged in mega scams looting the hard-earned money of the tax-payers. Consequently people all over the country had rejected Congress and its leaders. Now the Congress leaders are sailing in a sinking ship,” said Dhumal.
It is amusing, he said, that the Congress Party, which had no relevant issue against the BJP, was trying to make petty and trifling things as issues and becoming a laughing stock. Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi were now fluttering like a drowning person striving at a straw, added he. Replying to a question on Kashmir issue, he said some selfish persons suffering from lust for power and hunger for votes had changed the very definition of the word of “secularism”. He questioned where were these leaders of Bihar stretching their nerves when armless Kashmiri Pandits were killed and forced out of Kashmir Valley where their ancestors were living for over 5,000 years with love and brotherhood with Muslims.
