Former Himachal Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Prem Kumar Dhumal, on Saturday mocked at the melodramatic outbursts of Rahul Gandhi, who had on Friday described the ordinance against disqualification of convicted lawmakers as “utter nonsense” and added that it was an abortive face saving exercise with the twin objective of face saving of Congress and projecting Rahul as hero after realising that the president was not going to sign the controversial ordnance.
Dhumal said that in the process to boost the image of Rahul Gandhi and salvage Congress from ridicule, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whose clean image was exploited for furthering the interests of scam-ridden UPA Government, was made a sacrificial goat in the evening of his life.
It was amusing, he said, that the sycophancy in the Congress had assumed ridiculous proportions. Congress leaders of all shades, who till yesterday, were supporting the infamous ordinance, took no time to take a u-turn and started showering praises on Rahul. It appears that Congress leaders take it for granted that the people are fools. Dhumal, who is here to participate in the one-day State level media workshop, lambasted the Virbhadra Singh Government for bringing all developmental activities to a virtual halt by wasting its energies in transfers, postings and witch hunting.
The former Chief Minister claimed that a pro-BJP and pro-Modi wave was sweeping across the state and the youths were reposing great expectations in the Prime Ministerial candidate, who they feel, would make a crackdown against corruption and bring to book the culprits who had committed mega scams with the patronage of the ruling party. Dhumal said BJP workers would leave no stone unturned in weeding out Congress from the State.
