Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Monday lashed out at the State Congress party for having launched a misinformation campaign on the State’s fiscal health.
Terming the Congress leaders as State’s “biggest enemy”, Sukhbir said that the Congress-led UPA has been badly exposed in Punjab as well as in India and instead of accepting the defeat with grace it has bent on ruining the country.
Addressing a gathering at Nathana in Bathinda, Sukhbir said that the Congress leaders knew that they were on the verge of being kicked out by the people and their days in power are numbered. “Congress-led UPA has been branded as anti-people and has virtually lost every right to serve the nation,” he added.
Deputy Chief Minister, while speaking to the media after laying the foundation stone of Rs219.56 crore development projects in Bathinda including construction of Rs196 crore Sudhar Ghar, said that to strengthen Punjab’s agriculture base, water for purposes of irrigation would be provided to farmers at the tails. New irrigation line at Dhelwan Minor at Nathana was also inaugurated which was commissioned with Rs18.80 crore. A cycle track and jogging path was also inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister.
Reacting to the recent statement of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressing claims over Chandigarh, Sukhbir reiterated that Chandigarh was an integral part of Punjab and would always remain so.
On Central Government’s directive to remove Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s pictures from 108-Ambulances running in the State, Sukhbir dismissed the controversy saying that it only showed the hollowness of Congress led UPA Government.
“It was unfortunate that the Government has even threatened to stop the grants meant for Punjab people under National Rural Health Mission if we “do not toe their line of action”, said he. In order to provide safe drinking water to the people especially in Malwa belt, Sukhbir said that RO plants would be installed in all villages in coming months. As many as 3000 ROs have already been installed while 2000 ROs would be installed till December, he said.
