Accusing BJP of running malicious propaganda against the Himachal Government, senior leaders of Congress on Thursday said that scared of a successive defeat in Assembly elections, BJP had resorted to malicious propaganda to mislead people.
In a joint statement issued in Shimla, Charder Kumar Chaudhary, chairman, OBC Finance and Development Corporation, GR Musafir, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Ram lal Thakur, Chairman, State level Planning Development and 20 Point Programme Committee and Kuldeep Singh Pathania, chairman, State Pollution Control Board said that BJP leaders were creating baseless allegation to malign government’s image specially over the issue of development.
They said, the BJP leaders were baffled over the historic decision taken by the state cabinet to make Dharamshala as second capital of Himachal Pradesh. They expressed surprise that BJP was opposing this decision whereas it was not only an honour to the people of the entire lower area but they would also be facilitated to a large extent and it would usher a new era of progress and prosperity.
They added that the main spirit behind the proposal was to ensure equitable development of all areas besides emotional integration of the entire state. Justifying Dharamshala as winter capital of the state, they said it was not only the district headquarter of Dharamshala but also a centre place for the adjoining Chamba, Hamirpur and Una districts. This decision would directly benefit the people of these districts and it also facilitate in redressing their issue with ease, said the Congress leaders.
They said, the Chief Minister had already made it clear that new infrastructure would be created at Dharamshala and no office or staff would be shifted from Shimla.
They added that BJP had earlier also opposed the decision of the Congress government to set up Vidhan Sabha at Dharamshala and organizing winter session there, however, the people of the lower parts of the state had well appreciated this move as they get an opportunity to get their works done with ease without travelling to Shimla.
They said, BJP was not able to see the unprecedented development that had taken place during the tenure of present government and fearing defeat in the coming assembly elections, they had now stooped to malicious propaganda.
The State Government had been able to give transparent, responsive and corruption-free governance as per the aspirations of the people of the state, said the Congress leaders.
On the allegations of drug mafia in the state, they said that BJP leaders were unnecessarily airing this issue for political mileage whereas the fact was that there was no such situation in the state.
