Cong plans protests to highlight SAD-BJP 'failures'

PNS

Punjab Congress has announced a series of protests in different parts of the State to highlight the alleged “failures” of the SAD-BJP Government.

The first protest of the campaign against the State Government rule by SAD-BJP, will be held at Ropar, announced newly-appointed State Congress Chief Partap Singh Bajwa during the Hola Mohalla festival, adding that the detailed programme of the entire campaign would be announced soon.

Asking the party workers to be prepared for the Panchayat polls scheduled in May and 2014 lok Sabha elections, Bajwa said: “Punjab is passing through the saddest State of affairs. There is no rule of law, human rights and liberty of common man is curtailed, corruption has peeved to grassroot level and the family of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has only one agenda —to loot the people of State.”

In his first public meeting of such a level, after assuming charge of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president, Bajwa gave a clarion call to the party cadre, from top to the grassroot level, to gear up for the ensuing “ballot” tests.

The ensuing polls would also test State Congress Chief Partap Singh Bajwa in the State political waters.

“Congress would take Akalis by their horns. Sacrifices made by all of you, so far, would not go waste,” Bajwa said. “I will lead the party workers from front and will take the first bullet, if time comes for sacrifice,” Bajwa asserted to the party workers.

Bajwa added, “Akalis have pushed Punjab into a state of anarchy. Congress party would take on Akalis head on.”
