A day after defeat of the Congress in Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, the birthday of Party national president Sonia Gandhi was celebrated at the State party headquarters, Congress Bhawan, here on Monday.
City Congress president Vikas Upadhyay distributed fruits to poor on the occasion and said that Sonia Gandhi, through her sacrifices, have proved that she was always with the weaker section of society. Upadhyay on the occasion took oath of adding more and more people belonging to weaker section of society with the Congress in State and in strengthening party in Chhattisgarh this way.
Noteworthy here is that Vikas Upadhyay was defeated by BJP’s Rajesh Munat in Raipur West seat in the State Assembly elections. The occasion was also marked with presence of president of Congress Sevadal, Ashok Raj Ahuja, Jayant Cordias, Hardip Singh and others.
