Facing drug taint, leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Friday alleged a deep nexus between SAD-BJP and the Congress against him. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed its solidarity with Khaira hoping that its leader would come clean.
lashing out at both the ruling Congress and SAD-BJP coalition, Khaira said the tenor in which both traditional parties have launched a vitriolic attack on him over his summoning clearly exposed the deep nexus and the friendly tie-up between them.
“It is surprising that the said traditional parties have never attacked each other on blatant corruption and neck deep involvement of their leaders in drugs,” said Khaira.
He said SAD and BJP never uttered a single word against the involvement of tainted corrupt Minister Rana Gurjit in the infamous mining scandal, although AAP has provided substantiated documentary proofs against the Minister.
Similarly, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar and other senior leaders of Congress are maintaining a stoic silence over the glaring involvement of Bikram Majithia in drug trafficking, although drug lords like Jagdish Bhola, Bittu Aulakh and Jagjit Chahal had named Bikram as a culprit in the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate, he added.
“The friendly-match between Congress and SAD-BJP is abundantly clear on major corruption cases of ludhiana City Centre and Amritsar Improvement Trust pending against Capt Amarinder,” said Khaira adding that it was an open secret now that the Badals during the fag end of their tenure in 2016 filed cancellation reports against both the mega scams of Capt Amarinder Singh.
He pointed that it was MlA and lok Insaf Party MlA Simarjit Singh Bains and former Deputy Speaker Bir Davinder Singh who were playing the role of whistle-blowers to challenge the cancellation reports filed by the Badals.
Regarding his resignation as the leader of Opposition, Khaira said he would abide by the decision of his party’s Central and State unit and will not be cowed by the empty threats of corrupt and drug tainted leaders like Bikram Majithia, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Raj Kumar Verka etc.
