The Rewari District Election Office (DEO) has served notices on 41 candidates, who had contested recently held State Assembly elections from three Assembly segments — Rewari, Bawal (reserve) and Kosli — in the district but have not yet submitted their election expenditure details.

Sources said all candidates have been asked to submit their poll expenditure accounts to the election office by November 18 complying with the directives of Election Commission of India (ECI) in this regard.

Haryana Cooperative Minister Bikram Singh Thekedar and former Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav and Jaswant Singh are among those candidates who have been sent the notices for not submitting their election expenditure.

Thekedar won from Kosli while Yadav and Jaswant contested the election unsuccessfully from Rewari and Bawal segments respectively. Besides the three, Randhir Singh Kaprivaas and Dr Banwari lal, newly elected BJP legislators from Rewari and Bawal segments, are also yet to submit their poll expenditure accounts.

“As many as 44 candidates were in the fray from all three assembly segments but only three candidates- Tara Chand from Bawal and Vinod Kumari and Pankaj Kumar from Kosli- have sofar submitted their election expenditures to the election office,” said a senior official on condition of anonymity.

He maintained that 15 candidates each from Bawal and Kosli while 14 candidates had contested the election from Rewari assembly constituency.

“The candidates either himself or through their election agents can submit their expenditure details along with vouchers with self attestation before the deadline,” said the officer, adding that those failing to do so within stipulated time would have to face the disqualification for contesting the election in next three years.

Confirming the notices served to the candidates, Rewari Deputy Commissioner RC Verma informed as per the ECI’s guidelines, every

candidate had to submit his/her election expenditure details with requisite documents within a month after the election.

“Election Observer (expenditure) is also coming to Rewari on November 19 to inspect the poll expenditure details of the candidates hence they have been asked to submit their spending by November 18 next,” said Verma.
