Haryana Government will set up a project at Karnal in which CNG would be produced through garbage and other waste.

The CNG would then be used to generate electricity.  The setting up of this project would solve the problem of stubble burning and would also be beneficial in management of waste of shelter house, Municipal Corporation, horticulture and dung, said an official spokesman.

He said that a sum of Rs 1crore has been spent on this project by the Municipal Corporation, Karnal and it would start functioning from January 15, 2018. This is a unique project in the country and such project would also be started in other district of the state, he said.

About 10 lakh tonnes of crop stubble is burnt every year which is a big issue for the environment. With a view to deal with this issue, the State Government has started this project which would produce about 50,000 tonnes of CNG and about two lakh tonnes of bio fertiliser, the spokesman said.

This project would generate 1,000 kg gas, 2,000 kg bio fertiliser and 3,000 units of electricity every day which would be utilised by the Municipal Corporation in different areas, added he.
