Terming the people of the State as his “biggest asset”, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday stated that the State Government has formulated a number of welfare schemes for the holistic development of the State.
Badal said that his priority was that every person in Punjab should get food hence the Government had launched Atta-Dal Scheme a few years back under which the beneficiaries were given flour and pulses at subsidised rates.
“To ensure that maximum possible people are covered under the scheme, the Government has now decided to double the beneficiaries from existing 16 to 32 lakh and even the rate of flour would be slashed to `1 from `4 per kg,” he said during Sangat Darshan programme.
