With the BJP Government in Haryana completing two years, Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday highlighted its success asserting that there was no problem in the functioning of his Government.

“The Government has efficiently resolved all the problems it was faced with during the past two years tenure,” said the 62-year-old Manohar lal, a first time legislator, who took over the top post in Haryana on October 26, 2014.

Releasing a booklet “2 Saal Sabka Khayal”, highlighting achievements of his Government, the Chief Minister said that implementing new and innovative schemes and development was the focus of the State Government in the last two years. In the coming year, employment and development would be the focus, he said.

Two years into the power, Manohar lal Government had its share of problems like the violent ‘Jat reservation agitation’, which led to 30 deaths and more than 300 injuries,  the ‘ink controversy’ during Rajya Sabha polls, sampling of biryani or implementation of measures for cow protection for which it drew criticism from Opposition and social organisations.

Also, the Government’s focus on Hindutva agenda, including beef ban, restoration of mythological Saraswati river and saffronisation of education with introduction of yoga and Gita, overshadowed most of the welfare schemes and innovative initiatives launched by the Khattar Government.

Spelling out Government’s future plan, the Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons said that the Haryana Government, which completed its two years, would observe the next year as “Garib Kalyan Varsh” (year of welfare of the poor) and emphasis would be laid on generating maximum employment opportunities for the youth.

He said that the next year would be dedicated to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya and would also be the year of golden jubilee of the state.

listing his government’s achievements, he said that he had made about 2000 announcements during these two years out of which 1200 announcements have either been completed or work on them is in progress. The work on remaining 800 announcements is also in progress which would be completed during next year, said he.

Manohar lal said, “I have visited most of the 90 constituencies in the State and announced development works. Now, only 12 constituencies are left which I would soon visit in the future.” Though the Haryana Government had been projecting bringing transparency as one of its main agenda, the Opposition kept making a scathing attack on the ruling alleging scams in paddy procurement and recruitments in the state in past two years. Manohar lal, who has been a Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) ideologue also drew criticism for allegedly deploying people pursuing ‘Hindutva agenda’ on key positions in the Government.

Asked about Opposition allegations on lack of transparency in the Government, the Chief Minister said that during his tenure, he has provided good governance while making efforts to ensure transparency. Also, efforts have been made to streamline the systems which were creating problems for the people, he said.

About  the gift to be given to the people on completion of two years of the present State Government, the Chief Minister said that some announcements would be made on October 31 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also launch some new schemes on November 1.

Responding to a query related to pending issues, the Chief Minister said that his government has resolved all issues in past two years.

On Sutlej Yamuna link canal issue, he said that the decision on SYl issue is expected soon and we are hopeful that it will be in favour of Haryana.

Replying to a question on opposition allegations, Manohar lal said that last year, the opposition had alleged a scam in paddy procurement and we had carried out verification of stock but nothing came out. We don’t take such allegations of opposition seriously, he added.
