BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday slammed Indian Youth Congress president Raja Amarinder Singh Warring for his plan to gherao the Parliament and organise “Kisan Satyagraha” against the proposed amendment in land Acquisition Bill. “It would have been appropriate had the Youth Congress president consulted senior leaders of his party and especially the Chief Ministers of Congress ruled States before announcing such an action,” said Chugh.
He said that the announcement has not come as a surprise as Congress, which for the last some years, seemed to be devoid of any constructive agenda, has been criticising the programmes and policies of the BJP only for the sake of criticism. “The Congress, which is completely rejected by the people of the country in lok Sabha elections and subsequent polls in different States of the country, has been opposing the constructive and developmental programmes initiated by visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Chugh said that any protest against the proposed amendment in land Acquisition Bill can prove detrimental to Prime Minister Modi’s agenda of development. “Moreover, it would be an anti-farmer step of the Congress and the Youth Congress,” he said. “One wonders how the Congress can oppose the amendments in the Bill now as the Congress Chief Ministers have themselves approached the Prime Minister to amend the Bill. Not only this, the Chief Ministers have also expressed dissatisfaction over the bill passed by the erstwhile UPA Government while dubbing it as anti-farmer and anti-development after which the Modi Government, acceding to their request, has come up with the new legislation,” he said.
Chugh said that the new amendments would usher in better irrigation facilities in the villages and would ensure home for each and every family across the country. “It is unfortunate that the Congress is opposing land Bill just for the sake of opposition. Congress leaders and the Youth Congress president should look within before hurling unnecessary allegations at the Government,” he said.
“They should rather come forward to support the bill for the welfare of the farmers and other common men of the country so that the Modi Government is able to speedily deliver what the BJP committed to the people of the country,” said Chugh.
