The district court here on Tuesday framed charges against dismissed UT police constable Basant Singh alias Bunty and his accomplice Sarita who stabbed Inspector Sucha Singh on the night intervening June 7 and 8, this year. Basant and Sarita were produced in the district court where charges were framed for murder, attempt to murder, Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt and under Arms act.
The court has given September 21 as the next date of hearing. Chargesheet in the case was submitted by UT police in July which included the statement of deceased Sucha Singh and Jitender Kumar, who was with Sucha on the night and had sustained injures in the attack, and constable Anil Kumar, who was on duty at the old district courts. Basant, along with his girlfriend Sarita, was on the run ever since he had killed Sarita’s husband and mother-in-law on April 18 in Sonepat. The couple, on the night of June 7, was confronted by inspector Sucha Singh and home guards volunteer Jatinder Singh. Basant attacked Sucha on that night.
