Chandigarh may soon witness imposition of green tax on commercial vehicles entering the city with the cash-strapped Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh proposing imposition of green or entry tax on such vehicles to fill its empty coffers.
Apart from this, imposition of municipal cess on purchase of vehicles or sale deed of properties in the city has also been proposed. These two proposals among others were discussed during a meeting of the MCC panel held on Tuesday to discuss ways of generating revenue.
