Centre running away from questions by calling off Winter Session: Mann

PNS

Strongly condemning the BJP-led Central Government's decision not to convene the winter session of the Parliament, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit president Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said that the Central Government is trying to run away from facing questions on the current situation arising out of the enactment of three farm laws.

Mann said that the Modi Government is shying away from discussing the issues of importance threadbare, including the anti-farmer agriculture laws, which led to the farmers' agitation.

“Instead of answering the core issues concerning the farmers in the Parliament, the Central Government has decided not to convene the winter session citing COVID-19 pandemic,” he said, pointing that when the Government in the saddle had to pass a legislation in the Parliament for the benefit of corporate houses, it could convene a special session even during the epidemic.

Reacting on the ground-breaking ceremony of the new Parliament House recently by the Prime Minister, Mann said: “If the anti-democratic Central Government has to keep Parliament closed, then what is the point in spending Rs 1,000 crore to raise a new building?”
