Facing flak from a united Opposition for reducing the compensation to the farmers under the new rules of land acquisition, Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu on Monday dismissed the allegations levelled by the Opposition and claimed that the rules were framed by the previous Congress Government in the State.
Denying the allegations leveled by AAP leader Yogender Yadav and other Opposition parties that BJP-led Haryana Government has slashed the rates of compensation for land acquisition, Capt. Abhimayu in an elaborate statement on the issue said that merely because the notification was printed when the Congress had demurred office does not make it a BJP Government’s decision in Haryana.
He said that the BJP Government has in fact constituted a new committee of senior officers on 15 February 2015 to go into this and other issues pertaining to the drafting of rules afresh.
The Minister said, “Yadav cannot run with the hare and hunt with the hounds. Can he deny the fact that the matter relating to the multiplication factor and the rules never came up before the BJP ruled State cabinetIJ Can Yadav deny the fact that former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda approved the proposal to decide the multiplication factor before and after the Cabinet meeting to implement the decisionIJ, questioned Capt. Abhimanyu. He also called the act of Yadav as a demonstration of selective amnesia.
