Burning of 'Chitta Raavan' by Cong mere political drama: AAP

PNS

Terming the Congress’ call for burning of ‘Chitta Raavan’ as mere “political drama”, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday accused the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Capt Amarinder Singh for adopting double standards on the issue of drug menace in Punjab.

The party also demanded that an independent agency, under the supervision of the Supreme Court, must re-enquire the multi-crore drug case in the state.

“Capt saved his nephew Majithia by opposing CBI inquiry against him in multi-crores drug racket and now is enacting drama of burning ‘Chitta Raavan,” said AAP’s Poll Campaign Committee chairman and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann.

Mann said that if Captain was serious about solving drug menace in Punjab, he should have supported AAP’s demand of CBI inquiry against Majithia for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore drug racket.

Captain should not forget that he was only one who opposed the CBI inquiry against Majithia when every Punjabi including his own party members were demanding it, he said.

Mann said: “Captain even made fun of the then PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa for demanding inquiry against Majithia…Captain must apologize for supporting the one who is responsible for pushing youth into drugs.”

At the same time, he sought clarification from Bajwa and other Congressmen on whether Captain’s opposition to CBI inquiry was justified at that time.

“There is a secret understanding between the Royal Family and the Badals to join hands against AAP, as both of the factions have already smelled their humiliating defeat in the upcoming assembly elections,” he said.

Mann demanded that an independent agency under the supervision of Supreme Court must re-enquire the multi-crores drug case in Punjab. He said that after forming the Government, AAP would reopen the files related to Amritsar Improvement trust case.
