Brar lashes at Bajwa over 'shamlat' land inquiry

PNS

less than a week after shifting loyalties towards the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), former Congressman Avtar Singh Brar on Monday fired salvo on his bête noire Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa.

Brar said that Bajwa was “running away from an inquiry” into multi-crore

shamlat deh land grab by him and his family members, and this “has vindicated my stand that the State Congress is no longer a party of genuine Congressmen but has been hijacked by people with questionable past”.

Brar wondered that despite the fact that Bajwa’s wife and Congress MlA Charanjit Kaur Bajwa and the Congress legislature Party (ClP) leader Sunil Jakhar had asserted that an inquiry should be held to ascertain how shamlat land in Bhronjian village in Mohali was transferred in the name of a company owned by Bajwa and his wife, Congress president committed a volte-face by asserting that there was no need for an inquiry into the issue.

“In case you are clean, which is not likely, you should be ready to face an inquiry,” said Brar, adding “lest it will be construed by the people of Punjab that you have acquired village land whose ownership rests with the panchayat through fraudulent means”, Brar said.
