Chandigarh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to immediately visit Chandigarh to assess and have the first hand information of the severely deteriorating law and order situation in Chandigarh
Satya Pal Jain, former city MP and BJP national chairman of the Committee on legal and Election Commission Issues on Sunday urged the Union Home Minister to immediately visit Chandigarh to assess law and order situation in Chandigarh and also to transfer the investigation of both the incidents; one of kidnapping, rape and murder of a 11 years old girl of Palsora and the other of the rape of a minor girl of Khussa lahora by five police constables to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“The cases should be transferred to the CBI so that proper investigation into these heinous crimes can be done and the accused are awarded the punishment of death, at the earliest,” he added. In a letter to Shinde, Jain said that the culprits of rape of a minor girl of Khudda lahora could be identified because the victim is alive and the local BJP councillor came to her help and brought the matter in public domain. Unfortunately, in the other case, the innocent 11 years old girl of Palsora was murdered after being kidnapped and raped.
Jain said that both these incidents are slur on the rulers of Chandigarh and the faith of the common man has been completely shaken in the Central Government, the local administration and the police. He said that in this situation, it is necessary that the investigation of both the crimes is done by the CBI to nab all the culprits and get them convicted as early as possible.
The senior BJP leader said that Chandigarh being a union territory comes directly under the Union Government. As such the conduct of the Union Home Minister of silently watching these heinous crimes, while sitting in Delhi, without doing anything concrete is most condemnable
