In a bid to woo electorate of humble background and to establish direct contact with public for the lok Sabha polls, the BJP has decided to launch a special campaign ‘NaMo chai ki chaupal’ across the nation. The campaign would also assist the party in promoting the tea-seller credentials of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to garner the support of common men.
In Haryana, under the campaign, BJP activists would not only serve tea free of cost to the people coming to the chaupal but also encourage them to vote and support Modi in the coming polls by propagating the party’s policies and future vision.
Rewari district chief of the BJP Satish Khola said the party presidents at district level had been asked to earmark the points in their area concerned at the earliest to launch the programme. “Following the directives of the national council, we have identified 48 points in Rewari district where ‘Namo chai ki chaupal’ programme will be run. As many as 36 such chaupals will be set up in rural while remaining 12 will be run in urban area of the district,” said Khola, adding that ‘Namo Tea’ in English and ‘Modi Chai’ in Hindi would be inscribed on the cup to be used for serving tea to the visitant.
He informed that the BJP activists deputed at the chaupals would interact with the visitors over burning issues and would inform them about the party’s opinion about issues. They would also receive public feedback about the ideology and the future vision of the party to send it to senior office-bearers of the party for contemplation, he added.
“The special campaign will simultaneously be launched by Narendra Modi on February 1 next in 300 parliamentary constituencies of the nation through video conferencing system,” said Khola, adding that total time period of the campaign was yet to be decided. The BJP district chief claimed that the campaign would turn out to be instrumental in connecting the common men with the party.
