A delegation of senior BJP leaders will meet the officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi on June 5 to press their demand of time-bound inquiry into the Railway Board Bribery Scam.
Satya Pal Jain, former MP and national president of BJP’s Working Group on legal Affairs on Monday urged the CBI to interrogate former Railway Minister and local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal immediately and also book him in the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
“BJP demands immediate booking and prosecution of Bansal under the Prevention of Corruption Act and will not hesitate even from going to the court of law, if any attempt is made to save him under the pressure of the UPA Government,” said he.
He also announced that senior BJP leaders will meet CBI officials on June 5 regarding the issue.
Jain further said that it was on May 3, exactly a month back when the nephew of the then Railway Minister was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs90 lakhs in Chandigarh for getting Mahesh Kumar posted as Member Railway Board from his “Uncle”, who was the Railway Minister at that time.
The senior leader added that it is surprising that what to talk of booking the Minister under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the CBI has not even interrogated him till date, without which the investigation into such a serious scam cannot be completed at all.
“It is settled principal of criminal investigation that the delay in interrogating an accused gives undue advantage to the accused and intends weaken the case of the prosecution,” he added.
He further said that the present Railway Scam is a clear cut and “Open and Shut” case of corruption against Bansal and any attempt to save him who is the key player in the whole episode would not be tolerated by the people of the country.
