A day after Congress candidate and Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal threatened legal action against the BJP leaders, BJP senior leader and former city MP Satya Pal Jain challenged Bansal to an open debate on corruption issue and chargesheet prepared by the party.
Jain, national chairman of BJP Committee on legal and Election Commission Issues said that Bansal has threatened legal action against us but it would be better to have an open debate rather than spending time in long legal procedures.
“Bansal had said that if judicial court finds him guilty of corruption, he should be stoned to death in Sector 17 plaza. The party requests him to have open debate at Sector 17 plaza,” said Jain. Jain also alleged that to woo the city voters, the local MP has been pressurising the UT Administration to take certain decisions. This would be a violation of Model Code of Conduct and the BJP would not let this happen, he said
A day before, Bansal had slammed BJP leaders, former MP Satya Pal Jain and Chandigarh party president Sanjay Tandon saying that the balance of mind of the two leaders who had been trying for party ticket seems to have taken a hit.
