After creating chaos at AAC’s meet, the BJP leaders on Thursday raised the issue of revival of Chief Commissioner post in Chandigarh Since the inception of Chandigarh as union territory, Chief Commissioner was the Administrator of Chandigarh. However in the year 1984 after notification dated May 30, 1984, the post of Administrator was snatched and given to Arjun Singh, the then Governor of Punjab and the Chief Commissioner who was in fact the Administrator of Chandigarh was redesignated as Adviser to the Administrator. Sanjay Tandon, Chandigarh BJP president said, “The issue of revival of Chief Commissioner post is significant and we would raise it with the MHA soon.”
