Salaries and allowances of the Haryana legislators are set for massive increase. The State Government would bring a Bill to increase the salaries and allowances of legislators in the upcoming Monsoon Session, slated to begin on August 26. The issue was discussed in a meeting of Cabinet Ministers and senior bureaucrats, chaired by CM Manohar lal on Tuesday.
During the Budget Session in March, Haryana legislators had demanded hike in their salary and allowances after which the State Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution to bring a Bill to hike the salary and allowances of the MlAs in the next session.
A House Committee was also formed during the Budget Session which dwelled into the issue seeking information from neighbouring States on pay and allowances of the legislators. Following this, the CM had announced that a Bill regarding this would be brought in next session and the salary hike will be made effective retrospectively from April 1, 2016.
