Coming down heavily on the ruling combine on its decision to stage dharna over the issue of extending special industrial package to neighbouring hill States, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa said that he would soon meet the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress national president Sonia Gandhi over the issue.

Reiterating his demand for special industrial package to Punjab being a border State, Bajwa said that Prime Minister and Industry Minister had assured him that package would not be given to hilly States after expiry of sunset clause. “I would again meet the Prime Minister along with Punjab Ministers at the Center and party MPs to give special package to Punjab,” he added.  He said: “If it would not be possible, the Center shall give similar package to six border districts of Punjab so that industry have an option to relocate in border belt where cheap land, labour and water is available.”
