Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday ridiculed the “crocodile tears” being shed by the Chief Minister Parkash
Singh Badal over the martyrdom of Sant Harchand Singh longowal.
“Shedding crocodile tears now is not going to wash your sins and the blood off your hands,” he told Badal while holding him responsible for Sant longowal’s assassination.
“Badal’s hands are stained with Sant Ji’s blood as he betrayed him and backed out of the Rajiv-longowal Accord that eventually led to his assassination,” Amarinder said, while rejecting Badal’s allegation during a function on Saturday that Congress was to be blamed for Sant longowal’s assassination.
Amarinder challenged Badal to deny that he did not reject the accord. “Otherwise apologise to the Punjabis for betraying the Sant Ji and being responsible for his martyrdom,” he told the CM.
The PCC president said, Badal pushed Sant longowal towards signing the accord and later backed out at the last moment.
“Not only did you back out, you opposed it so vehemently and maliciously and exploited the sentiments of people and provoked them to the extent that the Sant Ji had to pay with his life,” he reminded Badal.
