Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday asked the Union Ministers from State to peep into their conscience to ascertain how the country’s economic health had deteriorated under the ‘misrule’ of UPA Government at the Centre before seeking white paper on the fiscal condition of the State.

“It is on record that the economic position of the country is at the lowest ebb due to the wrong policies of the Union Government,” said Badal, while talking to the media persons after unveiling the biography of founder of Hero cycles OP Munjal.

“The exchange value of Rupee against Dollar has touched its all time low and the prices of essential commodities are sky-rocketing, much to the dismay of common man. Moreover, UPA has failed miserably in safeguarding country’s interests due to which it has lost the moral right to remain in power,” he added.

Badal’s statement came in reaction to the Union Minister and ludhiana MP Manish Tewari’s statement made a day before seeking “white paper on the State’s fiscal health”.

Making a scathing attack on the Union Ministers from Punjab, the Chief Minister dared them to list any single achievement of theirs for bringing any project in Punjab.

“The Union Ministers and the Congress leadership are criticizing State Government for the sake of criticism whereas it is a fact that the State has witnessed unparalleled development in the SAD-BJP regime,” said Badal.

Reacting upon the ongoing war of words between the Congress leaders, Badal quipped that it shows that the Congress was a ‘house of cards’ which would collapse sooner or later.

“Congress leaders are habitual of making such political gimmicks to grab people’s attention. In dearth of issues against the State Government, Congress leaders are resorting to malicious propaganda to mislead the people,” he added.
