Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday, reacting to the Opposition MlAs sit-in, said, “I am really pained by the inconvenience which they have had to go through here and request to end it right away.”
Badal went over personally to Vidhan Sabha around noon to meet the Congress legislators and make his “sincerest and most humble” request.
He said he was deeply pained by the sequence of events and requested the legislators to accept his plea end the matter amicably in the true spirit of democracy.
“I appeal to you with folded hands, both in my personal capacity and as leader of the House to join the proceedings of the House as it resumes tomorrow. In the end, we are all here to perform our duties in the House as representatives of the people who have sent us here,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that he would have come even earlier but for the delay in formalities regarding permission from the Speaker as he
was visiting a hospital for
a check-up.
